2004 season VW/Audi Fox 2004 Pro Am Cup Champion |
Note: I have never raced a full season schedule. Thinking this year I might! |
December 1, 2007 Since the arrival of snow blanketing Thunder Bay this year so did the arrival of itch of getting it together for 2008 season . Let's see where should I start ? The interior, exterior including the left rear quarter panel, rear bumper, wiring, new race seat. I do admit the 1988 VW Fox is butt ugly but I feel it is competitive to keep around as it has won atleast one feature, heat or both plus a B -main feature race since it was built for the 2002 season. The car missed the 2005 season and was original owned by Pat Daze racing in the 2002/03 season. Between Pat and I the Fox has around 35 feature races on it. |
January 20th, 2008 The first race of the 2008 ice racing season at Mission Bay, Thunder Bay , Ontario began. Canadian political comedian Rick Mercer buckled up in the rubber to ice class driving his best on the ice speedway. The Rick Mercer Report airs January 29th 2008 at 8pm on CBC. |

1994 Built car 83 Rabbit. Did not need roll cages back then but with a small amount of cars season canceled at Mud Lake. |
What can I say the #87 does it better when it has the sun and moist tempertures on the track. It was just a average polish track in the morning and pretty much the same for the January 27th races. The club had it's make up races for January 13th and when the sun came out |
February 9th as a headline could of said "Sucked In Spit Out " Morning practice was a disaster with the car being hurled over the west side straight-away but made up as I managed to hold off Rob Eves at the line for the first heat win. The second heat was inverted starting in the back of the 18 car field I managed to grab 4th by a bumper length over |
The 3rd heat of the day found myself in the 5th row and by the second lap my hood pins fell out and the engine hood came up bllnding my view and even looking through the vents I could not see landing on the snowbank. Track crews rushed and pinned down the hood and pulled me out I was on my way atleast 2 laps down. |
I started in row 3 in the feature race making it to 2nd behind Rob Eves and blew a tire. Thanks to Curtis and Uncle Kevin for changing the tire so I could get out. |
February 10th second day of the IIRA event weekend. The weather was a blow'in -45 with the windchill factor. I was hooked up in morning practice and could not do anything wrong but as the heats and features went green it was a day gone wrong. The VW Fox set up does not do very well on cold temps and third gear is all I had. I was lapped by Rob Eves in the feature race. |
Would a Could a Should a but that is racing for 2008. Feb 9th Blew a tire running in 2nd place.....Hood flew up covered front window could not see in feature race make up feature race Jan. 27th . February 17th and 24th broke CV running in top 3... |
